We were featured in Baltimore Magazine’s ‘50 Reasons to Love Baltimore Right Now’ issue along with other local maker resources!
I’m sure you’ve heard it before: that it doesn’t cost anything to promote your friends’ business on social media (liking their small business instagrams and facebook pages). Maybe you’ve heard that your local business owners need your support to pay their rents and buy their groceries. Perhaps you’ve seen the memes of how every time you shop local, that someone does a happy dance. These are all valid; they’re true, and worthwhile.
However, this is the first unprecedented time that 1 out of 6 small businesses will be forced to close, in the history of the U.S. due to a global pandemic. People are risking their lives to provide you with food, clothing, and shelter. They are your aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. People from the community we grew up with. So really. This holiday season. Please shop local.
From a person whose business is all about local makers, who haven’t been able to depend on their yearly schedule of popups to make the same ends meet this year. I’m a fervent believer in local business being the future of Baltimore economy. Small businesses want to help you. We will deliver locally, are 250% more likely to donate to grassroots causes, creates jobs that care about employees more, because we have to, to survive. Out of every $100 you spend, $68 stays within the local economy- 4 times the amount of a chain store. It means the world. Thank you.
